Both are taught here, so there is no sales pitch either way. The honest answer is that it depends what you want the licence for.
Automatic driving lessons in Halifax
No clutch and no gears to think about, which in a town built on a hill takes hill starts, stalling and rolling back at the lights out of the equation entirely. Most people find it lets them concentrate on the traffic much sooner.
Manual driving lessons in Halifax
A manual licence lets you drive anything, automatic included, which is worth having if you might end up in a works van or borrowing somebody else’s car. Clutch control on a Calderdale hill is a skill for life, or at least a skill for Halifax.

You control the rate of progress: the faster you learn, the sooner the test.

We start wherever you actually are
A brand new driver starts in a quiet area learning basic car control. If you already have some driving skill, you start at that level instead.
We have full permission from air traffic control for take off.

Quiet roads, then left turns, then right
Progressively out onto quiet roads: left turns first, then right turns once those are comfortable. You control the rate of progress: the faster you learn, the sooner the test.
Hopefully any skill you already have didn’t come from Grand Theft Auto.

Busier junctions and higher speeds
Each lesson leads into the next, with skills established for more complex junctions and higher speed driving.
Dual carriageways sound considerably faster than they are. Most of that is the noise.

Everything the test asks for
All the manoeuvres needed for the practical test, emergency stops, the driving test questions, and the independent driving element.
You’ll also learn how to manage road rage rather than cause it, and how to leave all the street furniture still standing at the end.

A brief at the start, a de-brief at the end
Every lesson links to the last one, with a short briefing at the start and a de-brief at the end where any points to focus on get discussed and agreed. A structured approach throughout.
We finish by agreeing what to work on next time. Some weeks that list is shorter than others.
And the theory test?
