Halifax is not the gentlest place to learn. It is built on a hill, most of the useful junctions are on a slope, and half the town centre is one-way. Learn in an automatic and the hills stop being a problem at all, which leaves you free to concentrate on the traffic rather than your left foot.
Lessons run for a full hour or multiples of one, and start from home, work, school or college, wherever is actually convenient. I'll drop you back somewhere sensible too.

The hills stop mattering
Halifax is built on a hill and most of the useful junctions are on a slope. No clutch means no hill starts, no stalling, and no rolling back at the lights. In this town that removes the single biggest source of learner panic.
You watch the road, not your feet
Take gear changes out and there is one less thing happening at every junction. Most people I teach are reading the traffic properly weeks earlier than they otherwise would.

More and more of what is on the forecourt is automatic, electrics included, and they are all automatic. An automatic licence covers those. If that is what you intend to drive, learning in one is the sensible way round.
